Subaru is the unsung hero marque of Japanese carmakers. Here’s why a used Subaru is such a good choice.

Ready for Adventure: The Durability of a Used Subaru

They Have What People Want

Subaru is known for some important value propositions: they’re reliable, long-lasting, well-priced, unpretentious, practical, and they test very well among consumers for:

  • Safety
  • Visibility for the driver
  • Roominess
  • Intuitive controls
  • Fuel economy

One of the biggest marks in Subaru’s favor is the standard all-wheel drive. If you’re the adventurous type or just like to drive where the snow flies, you get this performance and safety feature without having to pay extra for it like you do with the other guys. And as for durability: how about the fact that over 95% of Subarus sold in the last 10 years are still on the road?

They Offer Lots of Options

Want a sedan or a hatchback? There’s the Impreza and the Legacy. How about sport cars? Try the BRZ or the WRX. Then there’s a wide array of SUVs, from the economical and popular Outback to the roomy Forester, Crosstrek, and the giant Ascent. Whatever type of vehicle you need, there’s likely a Subaru that will fit the bill.

They Come With That BOXER Engine

Subaru’s BOXER engine was originally designed for aircraft applications, and in your vehicle, it offers superior weight and handling for a drive like no other. It’s got a light design, great fuel efficiency, less noise, and better overall efficiency and longevity.

They Come With EyeSight

Most recent models of Subaru now come with their EyeSight tech, which uses cameras to constantly scan the road and ahead and help you stay in your lane, use cruise control more efficiently, and offer automatic emergency braking, steering, and warnings. It even throttles the engine for you if it detects an imminent collision, to add to the power of your brakes and minimize the damage of a collision if it can’t be avoided.

They Compare Well to Everyone

Pick a competitor, and Subaru comes out well. The Subaru Impreza has all the safety features of the Honda Civic, but at a much cheaper price. It’s comparable to the Hyundai Elantra in terms of price but out-performs it in safety by a long way.

Or, take the Subaru Outback. It costs a lot more to get a Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same safety features, which don’t come standard, and the Outback retains its resale value for longer. It also gets a lot better fuel economy, and while both vehicles seat five, the Outback has five extra cubic feet of cargo space.
